Specializing in science-based herbal medicine and truly effective natural alternatives to popular pharmaceutical drugs

The premier source for Salvia divinorum, Kava, and many other remarkable herbs

Doing business with integrity since 1989

THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE of Sage Wisdom Botanicals is to provide herbal medicines that promote wellness and wellbeing. We offer top-quality herbs that are extraordinary, effective, and accurately described. We focus on psychoactive herbs, but also offer non-psychoactive herbs that promote heath. We provide in-depth information about all the herbs we sell, do business with integrity, and provide excellent service. We began doing business way back in 1989 under the name Dream Gardens, before the World Wide Web existed. Dream Gardens specialized in live medicinal plants, but also offered dried herbs. We changed our name and went online in 1998. Initially, our online shop only offered Salvia divinorum (Diviner's Sage). That herb remains our specialty, but now we also offer many other herbs, books, and related products. The proceeds of all sales directly support important and much needed Salvia divinorum related research, scientific expeditions, and educational publications, such as those found at The Salvia divinorum Research and Information Center web site.

Sierra Mazateca Prime Harvest
These leaves are about fifty-percent more potent than typical Hawaiian or Oaxacan leaves. They are sustainably harvested by Mazatecs farmers who cultivate the plants in their native region—the remote highlands of the Sierra Mazateca of Central Mexico. The Mazatec people have preserved Salvia divinorum and the knowledge surrounding its use for hundreds of years. We are privileged to have them share their sacred herb with us. This particular harvest contains a remarkable 0.4% salvinorin A. This is exceptional in that it represents some of the most potent leaves we have ever come across. Very highly recommended!

Prices: 1/4 ounce (7 g) = $40, 1/2 ounce (14 g) = $70, 1 ounce (28 g) = $125.

Hawaiian Connoisseur Quality
The cream of the crop! These Hawaiian grown leaves are carefully chosen during harvesting. They have been selected for superior appearance, and quality. Only the healthiest leaves are used. They are free of insect damage, discoloration, and other imperfections. They are dried extra carefully to retain good leaf color. The leaves are then carefully stacked and packaged so that they remain whole and unbroken during shipping. Perfect for ceremonial use. These are the leaves pictured at left.

Prices: 1/4 ounce (7 g) = $50, 1/2 ounce (14 g) = $85, 1 ounce (28 g) = $150.

Sage Goddess Emerald Essence

sagegoddess.jpg - 10600 Bytes
SAGE GODDESS EMERALD ESSENCE is an extraordinary potion of enchantment. One of the finest Salvia divinorum preparations ever created, it engenders profound experiences that enrich and nurture mind and spirit. As a tool for exploring the psyche it can provide access to fresh, often startling, insights into the nature of consciousness, reality, perception, and the fundamental mysteries of existence.

A Sage Wisdom Botanicals exclusive. This ultra-concentrated tincture of Salvia divinorum has been carefully prepared using a unique new separation process developed by Daniel Siebert. This innovative process selectively extracts and concentrates a group of natural leaf components that enhance the solubility and absorption of the active principal, salvinorin A. All intermediary extraction solvents have been completely removed so that the finished product contains nothing but premium grade Salvia divinorum, grain alcohol and water.

This specially prepared extract is designed for sublingual absorption. The duration and quality of the experience is equivalent to that obtained using traditional Mazatec methods of oral ingestion, but it is far easier to consume and the level of effects achieved is more consistent and reliable. Many people consider this type of experience more productive and rewarding than that of smoked Salvia divinorum because the effects are gentler and considerably longer lasting.

The first effects begin 4–8 minutes after the initial dose is ingested. The strength of the effects gradually increase over the next 4–5 minutes, reaching a plateau that lasts 20–30 minutes, then gradually tapering off over another 1½–2½ hours. By using multiple doses, the duration of both the plateau and the entire experience can be increased. If the effects begin to diminish sooner than you would like, you can use booster doses to extend the experience.

Mild doses reduce extraneous mental activity and calm the mind; many people find that low doses are quite valuable as an aid to meditation and introspection. Mild doses also increase sensual awareness and can have aphrodisiac effects. A moderate dose produces a gentle expansion of consciousness that is useful for inner-journeying and self-exploration; this can also have an extraordinary memory enhancing effect that can provide access to incredibly detailed memories stretching back into early childhood (clearly this has therapeutic potential). Strong doses alter the fabric of consciousness profoundly, producing rich inner-visions and inspiring insight. Very strong doses can totally immerse one in a visionary world and can propel consciousness into the far reaches of transdimensional/transpersonal space.

Detailed use instructions are included with shipment. Go here for a table showing the number of doses contained in various bottle sizes.

Standardized Salvinorin A Enhanced Leaf
MANY PEOPLE enjoy the effects of smoked Salvia divinorum. However, it can be difficult to achieve a satisfactory level of effects from the leaf in its natural state because of the large quantities of smoke that must be inhaled. Salvinorin A enhanced leaves make it possible to achieve effects much more easily because far less smoke is involved.

The products below are prepared by extracting pure salvinorin A, then adding a measured quantity back onto Salvia divinorum leaves to bring them up to a specific, reliable, and consistent level of potency. Products that have been prepared in this manner have particularly good burning characteristics because they do not contain the gummy impurities found in crude extracts (such as '5x' and '10x'). Since the impurities have been removed during the extraction process, they won't end up in your lungs.

Caution! This material must be handled with care and respect! Make sure that you have educated yourself about this herb and its properties before experimenting with it. Please read the Salvia divinorum FAQ and the Salvia divinorum User's Guide.

'Regular-Strength'
This has been standardized to contain exactly 15 mg salvinorin A per gram of leaf. This is roughly six times the average natural leaf concentration. One gram is sufficient for 15 - 30 uses. Although not absolutely necesarry, it is a good idea to have a precision scale so that dosage can be measured accurately. Click here to see the low-cost precision pocket scale that we offer.

Prices: $65 per gram, $520 for 10 grams.

25 mg of 'extra strength'
'Extra-Strength'
This is standardized to contain exactly 1 mg salvinorin A per 25 mg of leaf (this is equivalent to 40 mg salvinorin A per gram of leaf). Because of its strength, it should only be used if the individual doses have been accurately weighed. Most people do not have access to the type of precision balance necessary for doing this; therefore, I only offer this in individually packaged, pre-weighed, 25-mg units. This only produces a tiny wisp of smoke, so it is ideal for people who want to minimize smoke ingestion as much as possible. Each 25-mg unit is packaged in a gelatin capsule (this serves as a container only, and is not meant to imply oral consumption). Each unit is sufficient for 1-2 uses for a person of average sensitivity.

Prices: $15 per 25-mg unit, $120 for 10 units.

Salvia divinorum Seeds - Very Rare!!!
salviaseeds2sm.jpg - 4154 Bytes
WE ARE FORTUNATE to be able to make these extremely rare seeds available to you. For reasons that are not well understood, Salvia divinorum plants almost never set seed. These seeds were produced by a grower in the US who carefully hand pollinates the flowers (a tedious process). Our supply is very limited and we expect these to sell out quickly. We do not know when or if we will be able to obtain more. Typically, the seeds germinate in 2-4 weeks, and the germination rate is about thirty percent. When you start new plants from seed you are establishing new, genetically unique individuals, and thus doing important work to help expand the genetic diversity of this rare species (most cultivated Salvia divinorum plants are genetically identical because they are propagated from cuttings). Please be careful to label your seed-raised plants so that they do not get confused with other Salvia divinorum plants in your collection. Most Salvia divinorum plants are indistinguishable from each other, but occasionally a seed-raised plant will be visibly distinctive in some way. If you do obtain an unusual plant, please contact us. For advice on raising Salvia divinorum plants from seed, please go here. Happy growing!

Buyer beware: Several people have been selling bogus "Salvia divinorum" seeds on eBay. For more information about this situation, go here.

Kratom is one of the most effective and pleasurable psychoactive herbs available. It produces euphoria, alleviates pain (physical and emotional), reduces anxiety and emotional stress, increases mental focus, improves stamina, and suppresses coughs. Many people enjoy the sensual effects of kratom and like to combine it with sex. It is also an effective remedy for premature ejaculation. Many people report that kratom is an effective treatment for restless legs syndrome (RLS), arthritis, and fibromyalgia. These effects are caused by alkaloids that bind to opioid receptors (the same receptors responsible for the effects of opioid drugs, such as morphine). Kratom is usually taken orally (as a tea, by swallowing powdered leaves, or chewed fresh). Coarsely ground leaves are best for preparing a tea. Powdered leaves are best for swallowing (mixed with water or fruit juice). The effects last about 6 hours. At low doses it induces mild euphoria, improves mental focus, increases stamina, and reduces fatigue. Low doses do not interfere with most ordinary activities. At strong doses the effects are profoundly euphoric and immensely pleasurable. Typically people describe the effects as dreamy, ecstatic, and blissful. Many people experience dream-like closed-eye visuals. Strong doses must only be used when one can devote several hours to the experience itself. When taking strong doses, one should not drive or perform other potentially dangerous activities that require full attention. This herb is extremely rare outside of its native region in Southeast Asia. Kratom is illegal in Australia, Denmark, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand. A recent analytical study found that much of the "kratom" sold in the USA and Europe was misrepresented and is not the correct plant. We routinely perform chemical analysis to confirm that the leaves we offer are authentic, unadulterated, kratom. We feel fortunate to have been able to obtain a reliable supply of the real thing to share with our customers. This herb has become extremely popular and we recommended it highly. Kratom varies in potency, but despite what many people claim, the effects of different kinds (different leaf colors or countries of origin) are pretty much indistinguishable (when you adjust the dosage based on potency). Leaf color is not a reliable indication of potency or effects. We sell kratom based on potency, not leaf color or country of origin. For more information about kratom, including dosage guidelines, please read our highly detailed Kratom User's Guide.

Attention: Kratom remains legal, for now! On August 31, 2016, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) published in the Federal Register a notice of intent to temporarily place mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, which are the main psychoactive constituents of the plant Mitragyna speciosa, also referred to as kratom, into schedule I pursuant to the temporary scheduling provisions of the Controlled Substances Act. Since publishing that notice, DEA has received numerous comments from members of the public challenging the scheduling action and requesting that the agency consider those comments and accompanying information before taking further action. In addition, DEA will receive from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) a scientific and medical evaluation and scheduling recommendation for these substances, which DEA previously requested. The DEA is therefore taking the following actions: DEA is withdrawing the August 31, 2016 notice of intent and soliciting comments from the public regarding the scheduling of mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine under the Controlled Substances Act. DATES: The notice of intent that was published on August 31, 2016 (81 FR 59929) is withdrawn. The comment period will be open until December 1, 2016. Click here to read the DEA's withdrawl notice.

Note: The statements contained here and in the Kratom User's Guide have not been evaluated by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

THIS IS THE most potent kratom product we offer. Just stir it into a glass of water until completely dissolved and then drink. It is easier to consume than regular kratom leaves and the taste is less bitter (but it is still a good idea to gulp it down quickly and then drink a little fruit juice to chase the taste away). The typical dosage range is 2-6 grams (a firmly packed level teaspoon weighs about 2 grams). Because of its potency, higher doses are not recommended. Since extra time and materials are involved in preparing the extract, it is slightly more expensive than dried kratom leaves (per dose), but many people consider it worth the extra expense because it is much easier to consume.

Attention: This is a high-potency extract, so please be careful not to take excessively high doses.

Prices: 1/2 ounce = $80, 1 ounce = $145, 2 ounces = $270, 4 ounces = $500.

WE now offer fine-quality kratom plants. This species is extremely rare in cultivation and much sought after. This is a red-veined variety called the ‘Rifat’ strain, which was collected in Thailand many years ago. Please note that kratom is a tropical plant that requires moderately warm growing conditions. It can be grown outdoors year-round in many parts of Southern California, Florida, and Hawaii. Elsewhere, it should be grown in a pot so that it can be overwintered indoors. Kratom grows well at room temperature and makes a fine houseplant. These plants were recently propagated from healthy, robust cuttings. They are now well-rooted and ready for shipping. The cost of these plants reflects the fact that propagation requires special care and great patience. They will sell out very quickly, so we encourage you to place your order immediately. We typically ship plants within 2 weeks. We will send you an email when we ship your plants so that you can prepare for their arrival. We can only ship kratom plants to customers in the United States.

IMPORTANT: We can only ship kratom plants to customers located in the United States. Please order plants separately from other items (i.e. complete a separate order form when ordering plants). Kava Kava (Piper methysticum) Extract - 70% Kavalactones
kava extract
Click for larger image

KAVA KAVA is an important Polynesian herb traditionally used to induce a pleasant state of mild euphoria and relaxation. The effects include clear thinking, calmness, muscle relaxation, increased talkativeness, sociable behavior, and a sense of well-being. Kava is used medicinally to relieve anxiety, restlessness, sleeplessness, irritability, and stress-related symptoms such as muscle tension or spasm. Kava is also useful as a pain medication (analgesic). Many people use kava as a natural alternative to prescription anti-anxiety drugs, such as benzodiazepines and tricyclic antidepressants.

Kavalactones are the primary active constituents of the plant. This highly concentrated extract contains 70% kavalactones. It is produced in Germany from Vanuatu-grown kava. It is prepared exclusively from the roots of the plant, using supercritical CO2 extraction. (The roots are the part traditionally used in Polenesia. Unlike the leaves and stems, kava roots do not contain liver toxins.) This extract is very potent. A mild-to-moderate dose is 1/2 gram, about the size of a pea. For stronger, more pronounced effects, take 2-3 times that amount. This should be swallowed and washed down with some water. Typically, the effects begin 20-30 minutes after ingestion and persist 3-4 hours, depending on dose. (Some people prefer to let the paste dissolve under their tongue because the effects devolp more quickly--in just 5-10 minutes!) The duration of effects can be extended by taking additional doses periodically, when the effects of the previous dose begin to subside. Refrigeration gives the extract a firmer texture that is easier to dispense.

Caution: Kava can dramatically increase the effects of alcohol, especially when taken at larger doses, so please be careful when combining the two. Kava should not be taken together with drugs in the benzodiazepine family (Valium, Xanax, Ativan., etc.) because the combination can cause excessive sedation and impairment.

Intoxicating Mint (Lagochilus inebrians)
lagoimagesmall.jpg - 5145 Bytes

lago2small.jpg - 3987 Bytes
AFTER MANY years of searching, we have finally been able to obtain a supply of this extremely rare herb. Lagochilus inebrians has long been used for its intoxicating properties by Tajik, Tartar, Turkoman, and Uzbek tribesman. The species name inebrians refers to its traditional use as an inebriant. It is traditionally taken as a tea. The tea is usually sweetened with honey or sugar to make it more palatable. Alternatively, it can be steeped in alcohol to make a tincture (vodka works fine for this). Less herb is needed per dose when it is taken as a tincture because alcohol is more effective than water at extracting the active constituents. Depending on the method of preparation used and strength of effects desired, dosages may range from approximately 3 to 30 grams.

The effects of the plant have been largely attributed to the diterpene lagochilin. The closely related compounds lagochilin-3-acetate and lagochilin-tetraacetate are also present in the plant and might contribute to the overall effects. Like Salvia divinorum, this is one of the few members of the mint family (Labiatae) that is traditionally used as an inebriant. The most commonly reported effects include relaxation, euphoria, and subtle perceptual changes.

Some vendors are selling herbs as "Lagochilus inebrians" that are not the correct species. At least one vendor has been selling a different species, Lagochilus cabulicus, falsely claiming that it is the same as Lagochilus inebrians. I have analyzed the material offered by that vendor and found that it does not contain lagochilin. Unfortunately, the problem of people selling misidentified herbs is quite common. Unlike most other vendors, we always compare the morphological and chemical characteristics of our herbs against authenticated specimens to make sure that they are what they are supposed to be.

Prices: 1 ounce (28 g) = $40, 2 ounce (56 g) = $70, 4 ounce (112 g) = $125.

Lagochilus inebrians is currently out of stock.

Dream Explorer's Herb (Calea zacatechichi)

dot_clea.gif - 43 Bytes

CALEA ZACATECHICHI is a remarkably effective herb for enhacing dreams. The Chontal Indians of Oaxaca call this plant thle-pela-kano, which means "leaf of god." Chontal healers boil the leaves to produce a tea that they drink to produce a clairvoyant dream-like state. Sometimes they also smoke the leaves. In other parts of Mexico, this herb is taken as an aphrodisiac and is said to induce erotic dreams. Interestingly, the dream-enhancing properties of this herb have been scientifically confirmed. Double-blind experiments have shown that Calea zacatechichi increases dream intensity, dream recall, and hypnagogic imagery. According to some people, this herb is also useful for inducing lucid dreams. The typical dosage range is 1-10 grams of the dry herb. Most people use relatively small doses, in the 1-3 gram range. Some sources recommend drinking a cup of the tea and then smoking Calea in a pipe or "cigarette." Indeed, this is a traditional method sometimes used by Chontal healers. Many people report that smoking this herb produces a feeling of mental clarity and a mild "high." The tea is bitter tasting, so it is a good idea to gulp it down quickly and chase the bitterness away with some fruit juice. Adding a little milk to the tea reduces its bitter taste significantly. The bitter flavor can be avoided altogether by taking it in capsules. Calea has little or no effect on waking consciousness (some people experience sensations of well-being and mental clarity). I am not aware of any negative experiences with this herb. It is recommended that it be ingested shortly before going to sleep. Many reports indicate that the dream-enhancing effects of Calea are most pronounced after taking it for several days in a row.

Sacred Blue Egyptian Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea)

dot_clea.gif - 43 Bytes

SACRED BLUE LOTUS flowers are represented in ancient Egyptian art, often in association with other psychoactive plants. It is thought that the ancient Egyptians may have used the flower for it's inebriating effects. There is some speculation that Nymphaea caerulea might be the plant eaten by the mythical Lotophagi (Lotus Eaters) in Homer's Odyssey.

Blue lotus produces euphoria, feelings of wellbeing, relaxation, mild sedation, and dream-like hypnotic effects. Some people report that it increases libido. The effects are pleasant. To the best of my knowledge, negative effects have not been reported. When taken orally, the effects begin in about 30 minutes and last 2-3 hours. The typical dosage range for mild-to-moderate effects is 5-10 grams (up to 20 grams for a heavy dose). Most people prepare it as a tea. When prepared this way, the herb is usually simmered in water for 10-20 minutes before drinking. Some people like to infuse it into wine and then drink the wine. When prepared this way, the herb is mixed with wine and allowed to infuse for anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks. The flowers contain the alkaloids aporphine and nuciferine, as well as other related compounds. Some people like to smoke a mixture of blue lotus and cannabis (typically a 50:50 blend).

Prices: 1 ounce (28 g) = $40, 2 ounce (56 g) = $70, 4 ounce (112 g) = $125.

Red Poppy Flower Petals (Papaver rhoeas)

dot_clea.gif - 43 Bytes

RED POPPY FLOWER PETALS produce a mild sedative effect that is useful for treating anxiety and insomnia. This herb is also effective as a mild cough suppressant. It contains the alkaloid rhoeadine, which is primarily responsible for these effects. Typically, 2-3 grams is steeped in a cup of hot water for 10-15 minutes, strained, then drunk as a tea. Many people like to blend red poppy flower petals with kratom and blue lotus. The effects are synergistic. One of our customers recommends making a tea from 1 tablespoon each of red poppy, blue lily, and chamomile. Reportedly, this intensifies the effects of kratom.

GOLDEN POPPY has sedative, anxiolytic, and analgesic properties. It acts as a mild tranquilizer, and is therefore useful for treating insomnia and anxiety disorders. Golden poppy is used in Mexican folk medicine in the same manner as opium. For medicinal use, it is usually taken as a tea. A typical dose consists of 2-4 grams (1-2 heaping teaspoons) of the dried herb steeped in 1 cup of boiling-hot water for 10-15 minutes. When smoked, this herb induces a mild state of euphoria. White Sage (Salvia apiana)

Click for larger image.
WHITE SAGE smudge bundles have long been used as an important ceremonial incense by many Native American peoples for ritual purification and cleansing. The smoke smells wonderful and has a soothing, calming effect. I like to use it when working with Salvia divinorum in much the same way as the Mazatecs use copal incense. The end of the bundle should be set alight, then allowed to smolder. The smoke is then wafted around the room and over the body. Salvia divinorum leaves can be ritually cleansed by passing them over the smoke before they are ingested. The smoke can also be used to define 'sacred space' - a clearly defined area for the session to take place in. I find that this practice creates a calm, mindful focus and sense of preparedness that helps to prepare one for the journey ahead.

Ceremonial Copal Resin (Bursera fagaroides.)

SIMILAR to frankincense and myrrh, the hardened tears of copal resin are utilized as an incense. This is the most important ceremonial incense used by the Mazatecs. A few pieces of copal are placed on top of chunks of hot charcoal. The heat of the charcoal causes the resin to melt, then vaporize, creating an extraordinarily fragrant, powerful, rich, and enchanting smoke that is used for ritual purification and cleansing. A little goes a long way.

The Encyclopedia of Psychoactive Plants
Ethnopharmacology and Its Applications
By Christian Rätsch. Foreword by Albert Hofmann

This is the long-awaited English language version of Dr. Rätsch's massive encyclopedia. The most comprehensive and thoroughly illustrated guide to the botany, history, distribution, and cultivation of all known psychoactive plants. The photos in this book are amazing. Essential reading (and viewing) for anyone with a deep interest in the subject.

• Examines 414 psychoactive plants and related substances.

• Hardcover. 944 pages. Contains 800 color photographs and 670 black-and-white illustrations.

In the traditions of every culture, plants have been highly valued for their nourishing, healing, and transformative properties. Many of the most powerful plants—those known to transport the human mind into other dimensions of consciousness—have traditionally been regarded as sacred. In The Encyclopedia of Psychoactive Plants Christian Rätsch details the botany, history, distribution, cultivation, and preparation and dosage of more than 400 psychoactive plants. He discusses their ritual and medicinal usage, cultural artifacts made from these plants, and works of art that either represent or have been inspired by them. The author begins with 168 of the most well-known psychoactives—such as cannabis, datura, and papaver—then presents 133 lesser known substances (including Salvia divinorum) as well as additional plants known as “legal highs,” plants known only from mythological contexts and literature, and plant products that include substances such as ayahuasca, incense, and soma. The text is lavishly illustrated with 800 color photographs—many of which are from the author’s extensive fieldwork around the world—showing the people, ceremonies, and art related to the ritual use of the world’s sacred psychoactives. Although this book may seem a bit expensive, it is actually quite reasonably priced considering its size and the number of photographs that it contains.

The Encyclopedia of Aphrodisiacs
Psychoactive Substances for use in Sexual Practices
By Christian Rätsch and Claudia Müller-Ebeling

The most comprehensive guide to the botany, pharmacology, cultural, ritual, and personal use of erotically stimulating substances from antiquity to the present day.

• Details the use, preparation, and dosage of more than 400 plant, animal, mineral, and synthetic substances, both common and exotic, as well as their botany, science, and legal status.

• Explores the historical and present use of aphrodisiacs and their role in sexual practices, culture, and art.

• Richly illustrated throughout with more than 800 color photographs.

The culmination of more than 30 years of cultural, anthropological, and scientific research, this encyclopedia examines the botany, pharmacology, history, preparation, dosage, and practical use of more than 400 erotically stimulating substances from antiquity to the present day.

From plants and animals that enhance fertility and virility, like celery, snails, or oysters, to substances that induce arousal, like ephedra, opium, or cannabis, the encyclopedia is richly illustrated with more than 800 color photographs--many of which are from the authors’ extensive fieldwork around the world. Exploring individual, medicinal, and ritual use through historic and contemporary artwork, personal accounts, and literature as well as ayurvedic, tantric, shamanic, and European folklore practices and recent pharmacological research, the authors look at the revolving cycle of acceptance and condemnation of aphrodisiacs, the qualities that incur the label of “aphrodisiac,” the role of mind and setting, and the different ways aphrodisiacs stimulate desire--either physically, through the senses and vital organs, or mentally, through heightened awareness and altered consciousness. This comprehensive guide reveals these “remedies of the love goddess” as holy remedies whose proper use can help reestablish harmony with oneself, one’s partner, and the universe.

Shamanic Quest for the Spirit of Salvia
The Divinatory, Visionary, and Healing Powers of the Sage of the Seers
by Ross Heaven

The first practical guide to the transformative uses of salvia.

• Explains how salvia connects you with your higher purpose and aids you in envisioning your unique path in life.

• Describes appropriate methods of use, a shamanic diet to increase effectiveness, and the meaning of the symbols experienced during salvia’s ecstatic embrace.

• Explores recent clinical research into salvia’s long-term positive psychological effects and its potential as a treatment for Alzheimer’s, depression, and addiction.

Salvia divinorum has been used since ancient times by the Mazatec shamans of Mexico for divination, vision quests, and healing. Known by many names--nearly all associated with the Virgin Mary, who has come to symbolize the spirit of salvia--this plant ally is now regarded as the most powerful natural hallucinogen.

Providing the first practical guide to the shamanic, spiritual, and therapeutic uses of salvia, Ross Heaven shares his in-depth quest to connect with the spirit of this plant teacher. He explores recent clinical research into its many long-term psychological effects, such as increased insight and self-confidence, improved mood and concentration, and feelings of calmness and connection with nature, as well as salvia’s potential for combating diseases like Alzheimer’s, depression, and even cocaine addiction.

Reviewing the traditional Mazatec ceremonies surrounding salvia’s harvest and use, Heaven describes appropriate methods of consumption, typical dosages, and the shamanic diet he used to increase salvia’s effectiveness. Examining firsthand accounts of salvia journeys from around the world, he decodes the meaning of the symbolic images experienced during salvia’s ecstatic embrace and details the interplay between salvia and the lucid dreaming state. Comparing salvia to ayahuasca and the San Pedro cactus, Heaven explains that salvia’s greatest strength as a shamanic plant ally lies in its ability to connect you with your higher purpose and aid you in envisioning your unique path in life.

Salvia divinorum
Doorway to Thought-Free Awareness
by J. D. Arthur

With repeated sessions using salvia over the course of several years, J. D. Arthur began returning each time to the same inner landscape where he found himself entering a unique state of "thought-free” awareness. There he accessed a mode of “dream language” that communicated an exquisite constellation of detailed meanings swiftly and flawlessly. His repeated immersion in these states of trance, as well as his analysis of their approach and withdrawal, led to a profound reassessment of the nature of normal perception and a reevaluation of what we refer to as the real world. With true-life descriptions of SD-induced visionary states, this book offers a detailed experiential analysis for those interested in exploring salvia in their quest for higher knowledge.

"This author's thoughtful investigation of the unique, leaf-induced state merits careful attention. His methodical approach and detailed documentation is a model of how to meaningfully explore such vast and elusive topics as time, mind, and language. His careful forays led him to establish familiar pathways both into and out of what he suggests may be another reality, or the far side of death. Mr. Arthur's conclusions beg the very question: What is thought?"

Frontiers of Psychedelic Consciousness
Conversations with Daniel Siebert, Albert Hofmann, Stanislav Grof, Rick Strassman, Jeremy Narby, Simon Posford, and Others
by David Jay Brown

In this curated collection of interviews with pioneers in psychedelic thought, David Jay Brown explores the future of mind-altering drugs, hallucinogenic plants, and the evolution of human consciousness. The accomplished scientists, artists, and thinkers interviewed in the book include Salvia divinorum researcher Daniel Siebert, LSD discoverer Albert Hofmann, psychologist Stanislav Grof, DMT researcher Rick Strassman, anthropologist Jeremy Narby, MAPS founder Rick Doblin, ethnobotanist Dennis McKenna, psychologist Charles Tart, and musician Simon Posford from Shpongle, as well as many others.

Demonstrating deep knowledge of his interviewees work, Brown elicits profound reflections from them as well as their considered opinions on the future of psychedelic drug medical research, God and the afterlife, LSD and mysticism, DMT research and non-human entity contact, problem-solving and psychedelics, ayahuasca and DNA, psilocybin and the religious experience, MDMA and PTSD, releasing the fear of death, the tryptamine dimension, the therapeutic potential of Salvia divinorum, and the intersections between psychedelics and creativity, ecology, paranormal phenomena, and alternate realities.

In each interview we discover how these influential minds were inspired by their use of entheogens. We see how psychedelics have the potential to help us survive as a species, not only by their therapeutic benefits but also by revealing our sacred connection to the biosphere and by prompting people to begin on the path of spiritual evolution.

The interview with Daniel Siebert will be of special interest to many of our customers, it is titled "The Sacred Secrets of Salvia divinorum."

Their Sacred, Healing, and Hallucinogenic Powers
by Richard Evans Schultes, Albert Hofmann, and Christian Rätsch

--Dr. Mark Plotkin, Conservation International, author of Medicine Quest: In Search of Nature's Healing Secrets

"This is a greatly enlarged and expanded edition. The photographs are spectacular. A chapter on Salvia divinorum is included. This book is well-worth purchasing, even if you already own previous editions." --Daniel J. Siebert

• Numerous new and rare color photographs complement the completely revised and updated text.

• Explores the uses of hallucinogenic plants in shamanic rituals throughout the world.

Drugs of the Dreaming
Oneirogens: Salvia divinorum and Other Dream-Enhancing Plants
by Gianluca Toro and Benjamin Thomas (forword by Jonathan Ott)

The first comprehensive guide to oneirogens--naturally occurring substances that induce and enhance dreaming

• Includes extensive monographs on dream-enhancing substances derived from plant, animal, and synthetic sources

• Presents the results of scientific experiments on the effects of using oneirogens

• Shows how studies in this area of ethnobotany can yield a scientific understanding of the mysterious mechanism of dreams

Oneirogens are substances that have long been used to facilitate powerful and productive dreaming. From the beginning of civilization, dreams have guided the inner and outer life of human beings both in relation to each other and to the divine. For centuries shamans have employed oneirogens in finding meaning and healing in their dreams.

Drugs of the Dreaming details the properties and actions of these dream allies, establishing ethnobotanical profiles for 35 oneirogens, including those extracted from organic sources--such as Calea zacatechichi (dream herb or “leaf of the god”), Salvia divinorum, and a variety of plants from North and South America and the Pacific used in shamanic practices--as well as synthetically derived oneirogens. They explain the historical use of each oneirogen, its method of action, and what light it sheds on the scientific mechanism of dreaming. They conclude that oneirogens enhance the comprehensibility and facility of the dream/dreamer relationship and hold a powerful key for discerning the psychological needs and destinies of dreamers in the modern world.

Why we no longer accept credit cards
Visa, MasterCard, and The Credit Card Merchant’s Association have all imposed rules governing what kinds of goods and services can be purchased with credit cards. These rules prohibit merchants from accepting credit card payments for sales of substances that have effects comparable to controlled substances, and they specially mention kratom and Salvia divinorum as examples. Apparently, these rules have been imposed by Financial Institutions so that they will be in compliance with a US Government initiative called “Operation Choke Point.” This initiative was created primarily to stop money laundering, but interferes with many legitimate businesses. This means that you will need to complete your payment using a different method.

What about PayPal, Venmo, Zelle and similar services?
Unfortunately, PayPal, Venmo, PopMoney, Square, Dwolla, Zelle and Google Wallet all comply with Operation Choke Point restrictions and therefore do not allow their services to be used for sales of psychoactive herbs.

What about Bitcoin?
We plan to offer Bitcoin in the future, but that option is not setup yet.

Order Fulfillment:
You can trust that your order will be shipped promptly. We will send you a tracking number when your order ships so that you can follow its progress while in transit. All inquiries and orders will be responded to promptly and professionally. Unless otherwise noted, all items are in stock and ready for immediate shipping upon receipt of payment. Most orders are shipped within 24 hours. During unusually busy periods, shipping may be delayed an additional day or two, and we do not normally ship on weekends. We ship live plants from our grower's location in Oregon. All other items ship from our main location in Southern California.

Delivery Options:
Priority Mail: typically delivers in 2–3 days throughout the USA (if you are in Southern California, the package usually gets delivered the day after we ship it.)

Express Mail: delivers overnight to most addresses in the USA. It takes two days to reach some rural areas.

International Air Mail: delivers to most countries in 12 weeks. Packages may be delayed a few days going through Customs, so please allow extra time for this. We have shipped hundreds of packages all over the world and have never had a package not clear Customs.

IMPORTANT: The transit periods shown above only apply after the package has been shipped. Also, bear in mind that the postal service does not always deliver packages on time; sometimes packages are delayed. If your package does not arrive as soon as you expect, please be patient—it is probably in transit.

Shipping Charges:
The shipping charge is automatically calculated based on the weight of the order and the shipping method chosen. A $5.00 basic processing/handling fee is included in the shipping charge.

Privacy:
Because some people worry about such things, all orders are packaged inconspicuously. The shipping label shows your name and address, and our return address. That is all. We respect our customer's privacy and never give out customer information.

Sales Policies Specific to Salvia divinorum:

  • Salvia divinorum is classified as a controlled substance in several US states and some countries. Before ordering, please click here for a list of states and countries that prohibit possession of this herb. If you import this herb into a state or country where it is illegal, you do so at your own risk.
  • We will not sell Salvia divinorum to minors! Do not place an order unless you are an adult over 18 years of age.

The Mazatecs of Central Mexico always use Salvia divinorum with a clear intent and purpose. It is always used under the supervision of an experienced shaman. It is used this way for good reasons. Since Mazatec shamans are probably not available to guide you through your own experiments, it is essential that you thoroughly educate yourself before deciding to work with it. Talk to others who are already experienced with its effects, read books, and read the information available at The Salvia divinorum Research and Information Center. Answers to the most frequently asked questions about Salvia divinorum can be found in the Salvia divinorum FAQ and the Salvia divinorum User's Guide. Before you place your order, please make a commitment to yourself to use this herb in a responsible, intelligent, and safe manner. Use Salvia divinorum wisely.

Return, Refund, and Replacement Policy:
We will only accept returns in situations where a product arrives in damaged condition or the wrong item was shipped. In these situations we will send a replacement immediately. We will only refund purchases when there is a legitimate problem with the merchandise received. We do not consider "not liking the effects" of an herb a valid excuse for seeking a refund. The herbal products we offer are accurately described and of excellent quality. All extracts are prepared very carefully and their potency is consistent. People have different likes and dislikes, and it is impossible for anyone to know whether or not they will like the effects of a particular herb until they experience it.

People vary A LOT in sensitivity to Salvia divinorum. Some people are extremely sensitive, and others are amazingly resistant to its effects. Somewhere between 10%-15% of people are unusually insensitive. Presumably this is due to differences in individual body chemistry. Although most people can obtain effects from Salvia divinorum, not all people enjoy its effects. People who have difficulty obtaining effects are either not using the product properly or are just not very sensitive to it. We cannot accept returns or offer refunds in cases where a person has low sensitivity or does not like its effects. Salvia divinorum pleases most of the people most of the time, but certainly not all of the people all of the time.

Customer Service:
We take pride in offering great customer service. Please note, however, that we receive a great deal of email and cannot always respond to questions immediately. If you have an urgent question or are legitimately concerned about an order that has not arrived, please mark the importance setting of your message as "high" or include the word "urgent" in the subject line of your message. Most customer service requests are handled within two working days. We are always interested in hearing reports from people regarding their experiences with the herbs we offer. Click here to send us your thoughts, comments, experiences, and suggestions. We prefer to be contacted by email, but you can also reach us by regular mail or phone (please be aware of time differences and do not call outside of our normal bussiness hours, 9 AM-5 PM). You can reach us at:

Storage
The herbs and extracts offered here will retain their potency for many decades if stored in a dry, dark location, such as a drawer or cupboard. They can safely be stored at room temperature. Sage Goddess Emerald Essence is particularly vulnerable to sunlight. It must be stored in a dark location because excessive exposure to sunlight will negatively affect its potency.
